The remarkable RS/1 from 1985 and RS/3 from 1987 are the culmination of Suzuki design and egineering expertise. More than just a styling exercise, the RS models are fully operational prototypes that show the shape of the sports car in the 1990's. Although it incorporates many state of the art design elements, they also features technology that is already being built in to Suzuki production cars.

The engine is one such example. A direct development of the unit which powers the Swift 1.3 GT, it has the same twin cam, 16-valve configuration but also includes revolutionary features. For instance, the pistons are made from fibre-reinforced metal which is exceptionally light as well as being immensly strong and resistant to wear.
